ABOUT

TWINKLE*FERRAREN is a Philippine-brand based designer label that specializes and aims to create everyday art products, bringing art & culture closer to everyday living. The designer began her career with creating fashion accessories in 1999 - like the beaded belt, notebooks, candles, bandanas - basically anything that could be painted on or embellished. In 2002, Ferraren then went to work as an apprentice under Philippine Fashion Designer, Dita Sandico-Ong - who specialized in Philippine weaves - it was under Dita where Ferraren learned and explored the different qualities and weaves of the different tribes around the Philippines. During her spare time, Ferraren would assist in creating concepts for photoshoots for their family business' shopping center (Greenbelt Shopping Plaza; which ended in 2005).

After her apprenticeship, Ferraren went to take up several courses at London's Central Saint Martins, after which she took on a brief internship under the Di Milo's label in Harrod's. She then returned to the Philippines to work for Dita Sandico-Ong once more - co-developing a young line using her weaves. It was in the summer of 2005 where she released her resort collection, showcasing her sarongs during the Miss Hawaiian Tropic competition. From there, orders and inquiries from friends and customers grew, thus starting the swimwear / beachwear line.

Aside from islandwear, Ferraren also ventured into paper-art clothing, tying up with a Japanese company that was using Philippine fiber waste and natural materials into making paper. Ferraren created jackets, hats, and pants which was shown at DESIGN FESTA, an artists' expo at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan (November 2005). Later on, the collection was picked up by GIFT GATE and she was asked to produce a wearable-paper-art line for Hello Kitty; which were composed of handpainted Hello Kitty abstract prints into hats, apron skirts and bags. The paper-art collection was again shown during the Antipolo Arts Festival which was held at PINTO Gallery, Antipolo, Rizal in May 2006. Later in December 2006, Ferraren participated in a group fashion show entitled "ROCK NG REPUBLIKA" using different weaves and woven materials in the collection. Ferraren also showed her first fashion collection during Philippine Fashion Week in 2006, presenting again in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The swimwear label also provided swimsuits for the Century Tuna Superbods Competition in April 2007. Several collaborations came through afterwards, with local group YABANG PINOY in 2008 and more recently with local retail brand FREEWAY - to come up with a limited edition handpainted swimwear line for the summer of 2009 "Strokes" and 2011 "Tattoo".

Currently the swimwear line is being carried in several boutiques and resorts around the country.
